Luxury Vacation Villa: Embracing the Beauty of the Junglee

Vacationing in the jungle doesn’t have to mean roughing it in a rustic little cabin. While those little cabins can be nice, sometimes a dazzling luxury vacation villa is more of what you might have in mind.

Overall view of villa caimito

This is exactly what I set out to create with this latest renovation project, Casa Caimito. The existing house was a little drab and didn’t fully embrace the property’s potential. Plus, the interior decorating, though not horrendous, left a lot to be desired.

Check out the stunning change after we got done renovating. The ho-hum vacation house in the jungle turned into an exquisite luxury vacation villa that fully welcomes and spoils all who enter with a mixture of man and nature’s finest.

Let’s take a look.

An Amazing Transformation

To fully appreciate the renovation work, here’s a quick peek at how the house started out.

We left the basic structure there with some significant improvements, including repainting the building with a beautiful soft cream color. The new color fits in well with the house’s green surroundings and gives the building a brighter, more pristine look than it had before

Rooftop Terrace

The biggest change was adding a rooftop terrace that allows guests to fully appreciate the ocean view. The covered terrace features a dining table and a comfortable sitting area all enclosed with a clear, plexiglass fence so it doesn’t block the view.

Guests can gaze out over the jungle and soak up the gorgeous view while enjoying a meal or relaxing on the couch with their favorite cocktail.

This isn’t possible on the lower floors of the home. While guests can still gaze out at the lush jungle, that same beautiful foliage is somewhat blocking the view of the ocean. The top-floor terrace brings guests up high enough to appreciate the ocean view over the tops of the trees!

Custom Furnishings

Another big part of this luxury vacation villa renovation was the furniture. Previously, the house was decorated with simple, painted furnishings.

To take things up a notch, the owners wanted new, custom-made furniture and left the design part up to me! If you know anything about me, you know I love natural wood and the rich tones it adds to a design.

As you can see in the photos, I added plenty of gorgeous natural wood furnishings from the dining table on the terrace to the stool tops around the breakfast bar in the kitchen.

The couch on the terrace (perfectly situated for taking in the view) is made from different wood colors, giving it an almost patchwork appearance. I love the unique look and it keeps things interesting.
